US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Response

An update of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) emergency preparedness and incident response activities in the post September 11, 2001 environment. Included will be information on the restructuring of NRC to centralize security and emergency preparedness in one office, Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR). Topics will include: potassium iodide; the emphasis on public outreach and stakeholder involvement; enhancements to the NRC Incident Response Center; and NRC efforts to work with other Federal agencies in light of the new threat environment.
