Health Physics Society News and Events

The Health Physics Society and its members are active in all aspects of radiation protection, including development and advancement of the health physics profession, public and media interaction, participation in national and international scientific committees, promotion of education and training opportunities, and support and coordination of technical conferences. This Current News area contains information about recent Society activities and upcoming events, Society members, and happenings of interest.

The Health Physics Society holds an annual meeting each calendar year at a time and place selected by the Board of Directors. Also, a midyear topical meeting is typically held and is cosponsored with one or more sections or chapters. Other topical meetings and symposia may be held at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The Society also conducts a summer school (usually the week before the annual meeting) and offers other educational opportunities throughout the year. Conferences and meetings sponsored or coordinated by the Health Physics Society are described in the HPS Meetings area.

In addition to HPS-sponsored events, other organizations conduct conferences and activities that are of interest to Society members. Examples of such organizations include the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, the International Radiation Protection Association, the American Nuclear Society, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, and the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Other Events area contains information concerning events sponsored by organizations other than the Health Physics Society.
