5.Sr. Radiation Protection Specialist

ESCO, Oil & Gas Field Services, United Arab Emirates; Oct 2022 - current.

Being a part of ADNOC sustainability program with regard to waste management I practice the role of qualified expert in radiation protection for the NORM waste management plan for all ADNOC waste producers, my responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Radiation safety assessment for facilities producing and dealing as their participation in the waste management plan (production, transportation, conditioning and transportation).
  • Estimate associated risks and exposure for workers and impose exposure control methods emphasizing ALARA.
  • Estimate associated risks to the environment and apply proper local and international regulations for NORM waste handling.
  • Liaise with FANR, Police and environmental departments for license and operations associated with regulated or non-regulated radioactive material.
  • Supervise transportation & shipping of radioactive material / waste locally and internationally.

Being a part of the first ever refuel outage for U1 at barakah NPP in the RP team to support all related operations at U1 , my responsibilities were but not limited to:

  •  Supervise activities of the junior technician.
  • Provide job coverage for radiological concerns during routine and special radiological work activities including continuous job coverage and remote monitoring activities when assigned. Special activities include medium and high radiological risk activities, such as radiography, diving operations, primary steam generator maintenance, in-core movement.
  • Perform routine and job specific radiation surveys (including personnel exposure, breach of systems, area, and equipment contamination, air samples) to assess radiological conditions.
  • Prepare, analyze, survey, package, and ship radioactive material, if assigned.
  • Designate and operate temporary RCA as needed.
  • Implement applicable operating experiences associated with the work activities.
  • Document complete, legible, and accurate records Utilize appropriate human performance tools when performing work activities.
  • Monitor and enforce all radiological safety standards as written in RP procedures.

 

3.Sr. Radiation safety officer

SOGEC NDT, DAMMAM, KSA – NDT Services Company localized in Dammam-KSA ; 11/2017- 02/2022.

Being a part of NDT department I took the role of company’s main RPO for Saudi Aramco radiography operations and projects and other major clients , my responsibilities were but not limited to:

  • Prepare radiation safety manuals, training procedures and emergency response plans.
  • Provide scheduled refresher trainings to radiation workers. Maintain the radiation workers DOSE record and ensure compliance with the RPP requirements regarding this aspect.
  • Liaise with local regulatory body NRRC and other government departments in radiation related matters including the import/export processes and safeguards.
  • Maintain inventory checkups for radioisotopes, devices and equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Ensure periodic inspections and leak test for radiography projectors and ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure periodic inspections and visits to radioisotopes storing bunkers including radiation assessments records, radioisotopes log to be verified and review security camera for any faults periodically.
  • Inspect emergency cases; provide preliminary reports and help ending emergency events.
  • Ensure radiation workers annual checkups to be done and recorded.
  • Maintain documents records related to radiation protection.
  • Ensure periodic inspections for radioisotopes transportation cars related radiation safety issues.
  • Ensure radiation sources are not transported between Saudi Arabia locations with police.

 

 

2.Radiation safety officer

STAR INT’L NDT SERVICES, Khobar, KSA – NDT Services Company localized in Khobar- KSA; 12/2014 -10/2017.

Being a part of NDT department I took the role of company’s main RPO for radiography operations and projects with major clients as MAADEN, SABIC, and various local businesses, my responsibilities were but not limited to:

  • Arranging all required files and details for new license permanent / temporary.
  • Follow up license renewals for company and radiation protection officers in company.
  • Review all required equipment, materials and instrument needed in project.
  • Provide safety materials and training to the technicians and maintaining all the Records.
  • Submission of the reports to NRRC. (Dose record and Isotope Status).
  • Visit sites and make necessary arrangements regarding Radiation Safety.
  • Control Projector Leak test as NRRC. Requirement.
  • Control the activity related to the conventional NDT including (Coordination, safety, logistic, auditing, quality, and purchasing).
