Your Support Needed for Congressional Support of Scholarships

We have an opportunity to affect legislation for scholarship funding by Congress. In the September issue of Health Physics News (page 13), Health Physics Society (HPS) Washington Representative David Connolly has provided a draft letter of support for members to use.

The letter asks your senator to support funding the scholarship and fellowship program administered by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This program gives support to both undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a degree in health physics and other related disciplines.

It would also be impressive for our student members to send an email since some of you already benefit from this program. The HPS would like the support to continue and to be available to the health physicists of the future.

There is already activity on this issue. See the letter of support from Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon here. Send an email to your senator (with a cc to David Connolly) soon.
