Laboratory Accreditation Policy Committee News

The Health Physics Society has conducted a laboratory accreditation program (LAP) for instrument calibration laboratories since 1988. The program has been periodically updated to incorporate the latest guidance in accrediting calibration laboratories. For example, in 1992, the program was revised to meet requirements in ISO/IEC Guide 25; in 2004, the program was revised to meet requirements in ISO/IEC 17025. This summer, the HPS Board of Directors approved the latest revision of the program for instrument calibration laboratories and expanded the scope of the accreditation program to include organizations that manufacture or supply radiation calibration sources. The Laboratory Accreditation Policy Committee (labs) invites your instrument calibration and/or source manufacturing laboratory to seek accreditation.

If your laboratory would like to increase its credibility, and perhaps even reduce the number and scope of external audits, please take a look at what the HPS Laboratory Accreditation Program has to offer. A copy of the invitation letter may be found here.
