The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) has selected the Health Physics Society (HPS) to assist the ODP and the Department of Energy Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HEDR) Pilot Project.

Ten HPS chapters will be working with first responders in 10 large U.S. metropolitan areas. Chapters will provide follow-on training, instrument calibration, and maintenance. In addition, chapter representatives will begin to network with first responders and serve as a local source of expertise for first responders.

A description of the HPS involvement with this pilot project is given in a Fact Sheet developed by the HPS and the ODP.

If any other HPS chapters have an interest in this project they should review the information in the Fact Sheet and contact George Anastas.
