Health Physics Society (HPS) President George Anastas sent a letter on behalf of the Society on February 5 to President George W. Bush. In the letter Anastas offers the expertise of the HPS in assisting the U.S. in responding to real or perceived acts of terror using radioactive materials.
The letter points out the efforts of the Society's Committee on Homeland Security to organize members to train emergency response personnel, to educate the public, and to respond to terrorist threats.
