Registration is open for the hybrid Health Physics Society (HPS) Second Annual Winter Workshop on Internal Dosimetry and the accompanying ROSS course, which will be held 6–9 February 2023 at Oregon State University in Corvallis. The program is now available, and social nights are coming together!
Internal Dosimetry Workshop
Join us for an exciting workshop on internal dosimetry. Even if you don't practice internal dosimetry on a regular basis, we hope you will find value in the tools, examples, discussions, and networking opportunities at the workshop. All aspects of internal dosimetry will be covered from developing biokinetic models to patient dosimetry calculation methods to emergency response steps to risk and dose communication. The sessions will prepare any health physicist for handling issues in internal dosimetry.
Along with the typical lecture format of conferences, sessions will incorporate interactive aspects to engage the audience. Activities throughout the day will be geared towards students and early career professionals, and evening social gatherings will be held to meet your fellow radiation science enthusiasts in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. At the end of the workshop, tabletop exercises and scenario-based discussions involving breakout groups will put your new knowledge to the test.
ROSS Course
The Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) course will be held concurrently with the Internal Dosimetry Workshop. If you plan to attend the ROSS course, you will not be able to attend the Internal Dosimetry Workshop simultaneously. In-person attendance is required for the ROSS course. No food, drink, housing, or travel will be provided to ROSS course attendees. Registration for the ROSS course is free and on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you plan to attend the ROSS course, you will need approval from your ROSS coordinator first. A list of coordinators is available here. If you do not have a ROSS coordinator for your state, submit a copy of your résumé instead. Approvals and résumés can be sent after registration to hpspcmidyear@hps.org.
Corvallis
Considering attending the workshop in person? Corvallis, Oregon, is known for its scenic outdoors. If you find some downtime between sessions, there are many popular hiking trails available. Also come and explore the town's eating and drinking scene with many great restaurants, breweries, and wineries to enjoy. Be on the lookout for the social program to be posted on the meeting website.
Accommodations
There will be no block hotel rooms for the workshop and the ROSS course, however the following hotels are recommended:
- Hilton Garden Inn Corvallis, located on campus.
- Marriott Courtyard, in the heart of Corvallis's historic district.
- Holiday Inn Express, on the Willamette River close to downtown.
