2022 Joint Meeting FCHPS/AIHA in Hutchinson Island, Florida

The Spring 2022 Joint Meeting with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the Florida Chapter of the Health Physics Society (FCHPS) was held 8 April 2022 at the Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort, Golf and Marina on South Hutchinson Island in Stuart, Florida.

As in the past, the morning session included presentations that were informative to both chapters. For the afternoon session, each chapter broke out in separate rooms for presentations specific to their membership. The full agenda is available for review on the FCHPS website.

Morning sessions included:

  • Radon in Florida: What You Need To Know! – presented by Joseph Kidder and Tim Wallace, Florida Department of Health, Radon and Indoor Air Program.
  • Benefits of Very Low Level Radiation Doses in Cancer Research – presented by Roland Branly, MD, SC-D, our newly elected chapter president and professor at FAU-Broward College Partnership.

Chapter Business Meeting

A chapter business meeting was held following lunch, starting with "Introduction of FCHPS Vendors." As in the past, our vendors provide great support to our chapter, including funding to the chapter and contributing to the foods and beverages provided during the meeting.

FCHPS Past President Tom Morgan presented service awards to Past Secretary Craig Kinne (not present) and Executive Council Member Clark Connelly.

Tom also presented a service award plaque to Treasurer Rod Nickell for his outstanding service from 2018 to present. Rod is a past president, serving 2001 through 2002, and has been an active member since 1980!
