Information on PDS

The 2015 Health Physics Society Professional Development School (PDS) "Estimation of Radiological Risks" will be held Thursday and Friday, 9-10 July. Attendees will find the following information helpful.

The location for all sessions will be Stewart Center Room 218, which is adjacent to the Union Club Hotel.  Continental breakfast will be served each day in the room beginning at 7:30 a.m. Box lunches and breaks will be provided each day as well. WiFi will be available for all participants.

If you are staying at other hotels, there usually is a shuttle available to transport you to the PDS. Contact Jim Schweitzer if you haven't booked a room. The dormitory option was not available due to lack of interest.

Dining choices (mostly semi-fast food) are available in the Union. Restaurants are available in the Purdue village area (a block to the east); many are bar-type establishments and there are also some ethnic restaurants. A short walk down the hill (remember you need to come back) will take you to more restaurants such as Bruno's, Puccini's, Scotty's, O'Bryans, and Panera.

Dinner out will be Thursday night at La Scala Italian restaurant. The weather will be rather pleasant for July, with highs in the 70s and low 80s. There will be a slight chance for rain. The dress for the PDS will be business casual or less if you desire.

If you have a rental car, you can park in the Grant Street garage, which is right across from the Union.  Parking is free for Union Club guests.

For those traveling from the Indianapolis airport, a shuttle is available but reservations are recommended. It will take you to the Purdue Union Club.

Contact Jim Schweitzer with any questions.
