National Laboratory Accreditation Program- NIST

B. Belzer (NIST/NVLAP)

------ Laboratory Accreditation provides independent, authoritative, third party assessment of a laboratory's technical competence and capability, and its supporting documented quality system. NVLAP's accreditation programs are established in response to Congressional mandates or administrative actions by the Federal Government or from requests by private-sector organizations. As an accrediting body, we are signatory to the NACLA, APLAC and ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangements. NVLAP accredits ionizing radiation labs under two Laboratory Accreditation Programs: Ionizing Radiation Dosimetry for dosimeter testing labs and Ionizing Radiation Measurements for calibration laboratories. Accreditation criteria are established in accordance with the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR, Title 15, Part 285), NVLAP Procedures and General Requirements, and encompass the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and the relevant requirements of ISO 9002.
