In Memoriam: Dwane Stevens

Dwane Stevens, 80, of Sweetwater, Texas, and Ludlum Measurements died Friday, 20 July 2012, in Sacramento, California, where he was attending the 45th Annual Meeting of the Health Physics Society (HPS). He was born on 14 July 1932 in Big Spring, Texas. He married Alma Jane Pence on 19 July 1952 in Coleman, Texas. Dwane worked for Ludlum Measurements for 45 years. He was on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries and the board of directors of Texas State Technical College. Dwane was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a beloved member of the South Texas Chapter (STC) of the HPS. Dwane loved his family and loved to travel. He never took a vacation; instead, he considered when his wife, Jane, was with him traveling for work to be his vacation. He also loved his two dogs, Charlidille and Nicholas. Survivors include his wife, Jane Pence Stevens of Sweetwater; sons, Randall Stevens and wife Joanna of Sweetwater, Blake Stevens of Sweetwater, and David Stevens and wife Kim of Dallas; daughters, Carole Stevens of Sweetwater, Brenda K. Stevens of Sweetwater, and Elaine Smola and husband of Stephenville; brothers, Paul Stevens and wife Pam of Sweetwater and Howard Stevens and wife Karen of Big Spring; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The entire STC will miss Dwane's great smile and helpful and wonderful attitude.
