Scientific and Public Issues Committee
The Scientific and Public Issues Committee and the president carry out the duty of spokesman for the Society (under the BYLAWS Article VII, Section 9) as follows: The Scientific and Public Issues Committee is responsible for the preparation of impartial scientific and technical statements as it deems necessary, and the president directs how, when, and to whom such statements are communicated.
The Scientific and Public Issues Committee is composed of five members: The President, the President-elect when in office, and three or four additional members approved by the Board. Past-Presidents are preferentially appointed as members of the Scientific and Public Issues Committee. The immediate Past-President shall serve as Chair, unless otherwise designated by the Board.
