Health physicist and Health Physics Society Associate Editor Andy Karam says the environment will likely be spared significant radioactive contamination from the Kursk accident. Karam, who has done tours of duty on nuclear-powered subs, was quoted about the possible risk of the Kursk "leaking radiation" by the American Institute of Physics, Inside Science News Service. The press release was also used by other national news services on August 22.
