Radiation Physicist Opportunity at Berkshire Health Systems in Beautiful Massachusetts / Only 2.5 hours to Boston and New York City
DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Under limited supervision, the Diagnostic Physicist/Radiation Safety Officer acts as the principal technical resource to the organizational health system on radiation safety and advises leadership on strategies and tactics relating to the technical and regulatory direction of the radiation safety program. Develops, plans, coordinates, and manages radiation safety programs, including the implementation of those programs, to ensure the safety of staff and patients. Ensures radiation safety program compliance with applicable organizational policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Serves as primary contact for NMED inspections and all other regulators. Responsible for overseeing annual diagnostic physics for the organization.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
2 years’ experience in diagnostic medical physics and radiation safety preferred.
Education and Training:
- M.S. or PhD. in Medical Physics or Radiologic Science.
- Must have completed the CAMPEP accredited residency program.
License, Certification & Registration:
ABR – Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology or Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Medical Physics, or in the process to obtain the certification.
Other Requirements:
- Must demonstrate independent judgment and decision making capabilities.
- Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment and supplies as needed.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills along with practicing hospital service standards.
- Attendance at all mandatory education is required.
