| Summary |
| |
The successful candidate will support the Enterprise Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Team in the operational aspects of radiation safety programs at sites throughout the Boeing Company. Radiation Health Protection is responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of administrative aspects of radiation safety programs at Boeing. Radiation Safety also provides consulting and technical support, including occasional on-call shifts, in the control of hazards associated with radiation at Boeing Company locations. |
| Key Responsibilities |
| |
- Plans, implements and assesses radiation safety programs and processes to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Develop training and instructions for employees that use or are impacted by ionizing or non-ionizing radiation
- Interprets and advises on the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations
- Prepares position papers and provides input to internal organizations, industry and trade groups and government agencies
- Evaluates and provides advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologies
- Performs audits, inspections and investigations and coordinates resolution of issues
- Develops corrective action plans to respond to internal/external audits and inspections
- Works with management to facilitate risk management decisions
- Supports projects and advises work group members on resolving radiation safety issues
- Reviews technical reports prepared by team members and provides recommendations and guidance to ensure quality of content for regulatory compliance
- Collaborates with research and development groups internally and externally to analyze emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods
- Assesses proposed regulations and advises internal and external customers of process and cost impacts
- Supports development of license applications for federal and state licensing
- Communicates with internal stakeholders to develop strategies in support of legal actions

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Statistics, or other scientific field of study
- 3+ years of experience with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation
- 3+ years of experience conducting radiation safety audits
- 3+ years of experience drafting investigative reports

- Master’s Degree in Health Physics or other Physical Science
- Certification as a LASER Safety Officer (LSO)
- 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Eligibility to take part 1 of Certified Health Physicists (CHP) certification
