Posted Job Title Medical Health Physicist B/C Job Profile Title Medical Health Physicist B Job Description Summary Provide physics support under a Broad Scope Medical License, several Medical and Non-Medical Accelerator Licenses, and an Irradiator License to the University of Pennsylvania and affiliates including 150+ research Permits, a Veterinary School with a small and large animal Hospital, and a Dental School with research and clinical functions; the University Health System (including HUP, PCAM, Pennsylvania, Presbyterian, Chester County, Penn Medicine at Radnor, Penn Medicine at Cherry Hill, Penn Medicine at Doylestown, Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center), the Division of Community Radiology; Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; the Cyclotron Facility; and 30+ Ambulatory Care facilities. Assist user groups in developing and conducting procedures for the safe use of radiation sources and radioactive materials to assure staff and patient safety in the areas of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology. Support development of procedures for safe human-use research including research associated with novel radiopharmaceutical drug production and novel radiation-producing devices. Evaluate suitability of facility to mitigate potential radiation hazards. Implement programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and best practice guidelines including Joint Commission, American Board of Radiology, Department of Health. Maintain radiation doses ALARA. Audit for compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements. Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards. Independently and routinely identify problem areas, analyze the issues and implement corrective actions. Plan, assign, supervise and evaluate the work of technical staff. Job Location – City, State Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department / School Provost’s Center Pay Range $109,000.00 – $170,000.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level. | MHP B Qualifications
Required: MA/MS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation related science with 3-5 years of experience or BA/BS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation related science with 5-7 years of experience required. Experience with Academic/Medical radiation safety program required. Preferred: MA/MS in Health Physics of equivalent related science with 3-5 years of professional experience as a Health Physicist in an Academic/Medical environment preferred. Board certification by American Board of Health Physics, American Board of Radiology, or equivalent highly desired. MHP C Qualifications Required: MA/MS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation related science with 5-7 years of experience or BA/BS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation related science with 7-10 years of experience required. Experience with Academic/Medical radiation safety program required. Preferred: Ph.D. in Health Physics of equivalent related science with 5-7 years of professional experience as a Health Physicist in an Academic/Medical environment preferred. Board certification by American Board of Health Physics, American Board of Radiology, or equivalent highly desired. |
