Hello! Thank you for volunteering your time to be a leader in the Health Physics Society. Serving as a committee chair is a valuable experience that will hone your administrative skills, enhance your resume, and extend your network of health physics professionals.

- Committee member terms typically last for three years.
- The number of members the committee is supposed to have can be found in the HPS Rules (see additional information about accessing your committee’s rule below).

- Recruiting and retaining volunteers:
- Committee members are encouraged to actively recruit and engage prospective volunteers on an ongoing basis.
- All committee members should continually identify and cultivate new volunteer participation.
- Sustained recruitment and engagement of new volunteers is expected of all committee members.
- All new members must be approved by the HPS President. Your HPS Board Director can assist in appointing new members.
- Delegation and avoiding burn-out:
- Delegate committee tasks to other committee members when appropriate.
- Delegation of ad-hoc responsibilities to other committee members is at the discretion of the committee chair.
- Collaboration with other committees and participation in ad-hoc committees/task forces:
- Communication between committees is strongly encouraged so that multiple committees do not work on the same task(s) independently.
- A committee chair may choose to send a delegate to attend another committee’s meetings (at the discretion of the other committee’s chair) to bring back any information of importance.
- You and your committee members may also volunteer to participate in ad-hoc committees or task forces to support the HPS Strategic Plan.
