I have a question about the toxic effects of uranium in
drinking water to a person's kidneys. What symptoms, if any, can a
person have? Our city has it in our water supply, but they said not to
worry. But, I do. Can you please help me out?
A
Yes, if the levels are high enough, uranium can produce minor toxic effects on the kidneys. But your city water supply is tested for uranium and, judging by what they told you, and what is true of virtually all the public water supplies in the United States, the levels of uranium in your city water are below the levels put forth as safe by the Environmental Protection Agency and your state health department. So why worry? There is nothing to worry about.
