The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field:

I have been tasked to find a video camera, CCTV type, to install in a bay where there is a particle beam generator. There is approximately 10 Mrad per day dose (high-energy flux, neutron) in the bay when a test is done and I was wondering what type of optical chip survives the best in an environment like this.

There are several "radiation hardened" video cameras or video cameras with "radiation hardened" fiber optics that allow remote viewing of an area like you describe.

I researched the use of "radiation hardened" video cameras and it was strongly recommended to use a camera with a videcon-vacuum tube and not solid-state imaging, for longer life.

Due to the cost of "radiation hardened" video cameras, we went with disposable security cameras that cost about $40 to $50 each.
