Does the size or mass of an object that is emitting radioactive waves impact the distance one must stay away from it to be safe?
A
The size or mass can impact the safe distance. For example, if the dose equivalent rate 1 m from a 1-lb object was 1 mSv/hr, the dose equivalent rate 1 m from a 2-lb object of the same material would be approximately 2 mSv/hr.
