Answer to Question #313 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Radiation Safety Careers — Career Development and Certification The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
My question: those candidates who passed Part I of the CHP Exam but didn't take Part II or have no intention to take it for some reason, would ABHP give them any credentials or certificate? Is ABHP thinking to do so?
A
The American Academy of Health Physics grants "Associate Member" status to candidates who pass Part I, but who have not passed Part II. This status lasts for either (1) a period of seven years after passing Part I or (2) until the person becomes certified. If the "Associate Member" does not pass Part II within the seven-year period, the candidate's "Associate Member" status will be revoked. There is no Academy initiative at this time to establish a permanent status, certification, or certificate for individuals who pass Part I, but not Part II.
