Answer to Question #3103 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Microwaves, Radar, and Radiofrequency — Satellite Dishes The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
I would like a high-speed Internet connection, but DSL and cable are not options in my area. I am considering a satellite dish which achieves faster upload rates by using a microwave transmitter in the dish. What, if any, negative health effects would there be to me and my family if I were to install the dish?
A
You need not be concerned about any health impacts of a satellite dish connected to your house. When transmitting, the dish operates at low emitted power and its microwave signal is directed away from the house. When receiving, the dish is not emitting a microwave signal.
