Answer to Question #2857 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Microwaves, Radar, and Radiofrequency — Satellite Dishes The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
I would like to know what effects satellite dishes that are no longer in use, but still on top of houses, have on people.
A
Satellite dishes on houses are there to receive, not transmit radiowaves. The radiowaves they are receiving come from satellites and are of a very low power density by the time they get to the surface of the earth. The radiowaves from satellites and the receiving dishes on top of houses pose no radiofrequency hazard to people. Gary H. Zeman, CHP, ScD
