Answer to Question #2697 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Pregnancy and Radiation — Exposures not directly to embryo/fetus The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
I am currently four months pregnant and am looking to get hair
removal laser treatment on my face. Can you please let me know if this
will affect my baby in any way and which treatment you would recommend
I use?
A
There is no reason to expect that laser exposure poses any hazard
during pregnancy. The light energy does not penetrate deeply into the
skin. Safety issues with lasers have more to do with protection of
one's eyes to prevent the beam from causing eye damage.
