Answer to Question #1610 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Radiation Safety Careers — Training Opportunities The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
What educational materials are available in health physics? A
The Health Physics Society (HPS) Continuing Education Committee maintains a resource center of continuing education material. The concept of the Resource Center is to store and distribute both hard and electronic copies of training materials to the HPS membership. The HPS Resource Center has copies of handouts and video tapes of Professional Enrichment Programs. There is also a growing collection of history video tapes made from interviews or talks by well-known and experienced professionals. The Resource Center material is currently stored and
distributed through the Oak Ridge Associated
Universities. At the Resource Center Web site you can view the current collection.
The Continuing Education Committee of the HPS wants to modernize and expand the
Resource Center to allow easier access and online ordering of materials. The
current arrangement relies on voluntary support and has no formal ties to the
HPS. We expect to complete the modernization by
the end of the HPS FY2009.
Rob Sitsler,
Chairman
HPS Continuing Education Committee
