Could you recommend a source for information on the regulations
in the various states or other localities concerning x-ray machines
used for industrial nonmedical purposes? I am particularly interested
in regulations concerning sales, service, and ownership of x-ray
machines.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health
(CDRH) has an excellent Web site which can provide you with information
concerning x-ray machines used for industrial nonmedical purposes. You
can also contact your State Radiation Control Program Director for
additional information for the specific state you are interested in.
One excellent Web site is the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD).
