Answer to Question #11570 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"

Category: Health Physics Society and AAHP

The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field:

I am looking for a health physicist near Oak Ridge, TN, to do annual inspections of our Siemens computed tomography (CT) scanner that is mounted on a mobile unit (which does not move around). Also, this person would review the monthly badge reports from Landauer for early detection of any exposure issues for personnel. Can you give me a list of qualified consultants who can perform this service? Thanks.

Thank you for submitting a question to the Ask the Experts feature provided by the Health Physics Society. As it turns out our sister organization, the American Academy of Health Physics (AAHP), maintains a list of certified health physicists. The list is accessible on their website at Once you are on the website, click on the “Membership” tab at the top of the page. In the top middle to the membership page you will find “AAHP Membership Directory.” Click on that and it will take you to a page where you must enter your name and a promise not to distribute the list. Then you will have an opportunity to further select “City/State” to narrow your search to Oak Ridge, TN, and nearby cities. You will note that those names with an asterisk (*) indicate the consultant pool from which you should find a competent person to perform the work that you need done. Fortunately, you picked a part of the country where many certified health physicists live and work.
