International Implications of Health Physics Society Initiatives
M. Gresalfi, G. Anastas
Since 1956, the Health Physics Society (HPS) has provided international leadership with the definition and implementation of radiation safety policies and procedures. Because of the Society's recent success with Radiation Safety Without Borders as well as its ongoing support to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sponsored Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HDER) initiative, the HPS has developed a unique set of radiation safety related homeland security policies and procedures that are directly applicable to international security challenges.
This abstract was presented at the 36th Annual Midyear Meeting, "Radiation Safety Aspects of Homeland Security and Emergency Response", Invited Lectures by HPS Ad Hoc Committee on Homeland Defense Session, 1/26/2003 - 1/29/2003, held in San Antonio, TX.
