Abstract

A primary responsibility of a first responder is to return from a response alive. Awareness of the incident conditions and the recognition of the existing and potential hazards that exist in a response to an incident is a paramount activity to the first responder. The ability to perform these fundamental tasks is based on knowledge obtained through instruction and exercises.
