Abstract

Bechtel Hanford, Inc., as the Hanford Site Environmental Restoration Contractor (ERC), has responsibility for performing remediation activities. It is necessary to determine, in many of these areas, whether radiological contamination is present in the soil above the predetermined Derived Concentration Guideline Level (DCGL). Direct field measurements, using a technique discussed in the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM, NRC 2000), could replace some of the soil samples that are taken after remediation.
