Procedure Compliance, How Do We Measure It?
D. L. Hill, T. L. LaFreniere
How do you measure procedure compliance? Typically for Radiological Control, compliance is measured by negative reports provided by regulators, assessors, or internal audits. This negative approach does not always provide a true measure of procedure compliance. A better method for measuring procedure compliance is accomplished through an evaluation of the users' knowledge and performance. This paper focuses on the measurement, reporting, and trending of procedure compliance by evaluating the following areas - first, knowledge of the procedure, second, actual performance of the procedure. Weighing this information against the negative findings of assessments and audits provides a better picture of the actual health of the program. Trending this data helps management identify weaknesses in the program prior to them being identified as negative findings in an assessment or audit.
