Overview of IL Calibration Facility
R. A. Lommler
The Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) operates a Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. (CRCPD) accredited secondary laboratory. The IDNS laboratory was the first laboratory accredited by the CRCPD. Four laboratories were built with the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) assistance, but only two still exist. State and local radiation control programs are the primary customers. The instruments calibrated by this laboratory are used to enforce general health physics and diagnostic x-ray regulation.
