Abstract

This presentation will examine how traceability is achieved through measurement assurance programs, redundancy and laboratory comparisons at accredited facilities and will demonstrate the need for accreditation to assure NIST traceability. The important role of the professional society laboratory accreditation programs in satisfying the needs of the non-government ionizing radiation user will also be demonstrated. An overview of the AAPM and HPS accredited calibration facilities at K&S will be presented along with a description of new and expanded calibration services resulting from the development of new standards at NIST and the proposed extension of existing accredited services.
