2010 HPS Professional Development School

Radiation Risk Communication – Issues and Solutions

 BACKGROUND

This school will offer an extensive textbook and lectures on all aspects of radiation risk communication. Faculty includes well-known career radiation safety professionals, journalists, attorneys, and specialists in behavioral sciences and risk communication. Anyone who needs to communicate with workers, first responders, regulators, the public, the media, doctors, medical patients, pregnant women, attorneys, and juries will find this school very helpful. We plan to offer this course live by Webcasting for the first time.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The DoubleTree Hotel and Albuquerque Convention Center will host the 2010 PDS, providing lecture hall facilities and catering services. A reception, to be held Wednesday night, 27 January, and breakfasts, lunches, and a night out are included in the cost of registration for those on-site. 

NIGHT OUT

The proposed night out will be on Thursday evening. We will continue to update this section when more information becomes available.

COSTS

Tuition costs for attendees are expected to be about $500. For on-site attendees, this cost includes the opening night reception, night out, conference rooms, faculty costs, meals, breaks, book and CD, and PDS bag. For online attendees, this cost includes Webcasting costs (video and computer equipment, etc.), conference rooms, faculty costs, and a book and CD.
