Words from the President
Joe McDonald
I just received a letter from the Health Physics Society indicating that
there will continue to be funding available from the Morgan Trust. As
you know, last year Steve Musolino was successful in acquiring funds to
bring Professor Maurizio Pelliccioni to Philadelphia. This year, we
would again like to invite an "internationally-known expert" to present
a Morgan Lecture at our Accelerator Session during the annual meeting
in Denver. The designation of "internationally-known expert" does not
necessarily mean a person from outside the U.S., but was made clear in
the letter that inviting a U.S. member of the HPS would require "very
convincing justification!" Please send suggestions for possible Morgan
Lecturers to either James Liu or myself.
Also, please keep in mind that one of our goals is to increase the
visibility of the section by pursuing recognition for our members. We
should all be thinking of worthy candidates for awards such as:
Distinguished Scientific Achievement, R.D. Evans Medal, Founders,
E.E. Anderson and Fellow Awards. Suggested candidates for any of
these awards can be submitted to any of the section officers.
