What's different here? Did you notice changes in the web version of this issue of the Radiation Safety Newsletter? This is because we now have the Accelerator Section website up and running at htpp://www.hps.org/accel/.

Some features that were once in the newsletter, such as related websites and newsletter archives, can now be found on the website. Thanks go out to Greg Jones, Livermore National Lab, for designing and maintaining our new website. Greg and I will be working closely to ensure that the newsletter and website compliment each other.

As you read this issue of the newsletter, the course in Erice, Sicily, is just around the corner, as our president mentioned. To tempt you to obtain the proceedings from the course, a specially invited article prepared by Ralph Thomas follows. I'd like to thank Ralph Thomas for providing this summary of his Erice presentation.

I'd like to thank also all the correspondents and others who provided articles for this issue. It's been a busy and unsettling time for all, and I appreciate everyone's efforts to contribute. I hope you enjoy this issue, and look forward to hearing from you if you have new ideas, suggestions, or comments.
