The Accelerator Section elections began on June 4 with the distribution of ballots. Elections are being held for president-elect, secretary, newsletter editor, and two board members. In my function as the chair of the Nominating Committee, ballots were distributed by e-mail to all section members with e-mail. Letters or faxes were sent to those members without known e-mail addresses.
If you did not get a ballot and believe that you are a section member who has paid their 2004 dues, please contact me immediately. Ballots are due no later than July 6. The announcement of new officers will be made at the Accelerator Section business meeting at 11:45 AM, Tuesday, July 13, at the Health Physics Society (HPS) meeting in Washington, D.C.
I would like to thank the other two members of the Nominating Committee, past presidents Joe McDonald and Scott Schwahn, who worked with me and had a great deal to do with soliciting the capable slate of nominees for the ballot.
On another topic, the Accelerator Section board of directors is engaged in preliminary planning with the Northern California Chapter of the HPS for holding a 2008 midyear meeting on radiation-generating machines in the San Francisco Bay area. If you are interested in assisting with planning for this meeting, please let any section board member know.
