With spring comes the first issue of the Accelerator Radiation Safety Newsletter for the year, and I hope it brings as much pleasure as the new season. I know I’ve enjoyed bringing it to press.

In this issue, we preview and review two new guidance documents related to accelerator health physics, one from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) N43 committee and another from the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP), Report 144. Sounds like these documents will be important additions to our reference bookshelves.

Our regular departments include news from our section's president, president-elect, and past president. In addition, we hear from our correspondent, Don Coissart, at Fermi National Accelerator Lab (Fermilab). Don's article chronicles the new projects underway at that facility and the health physics challenges they pose.

Thanks as always to those of you contributed articles and those who contributed moral support with your kind words about the last issue. Please keep this newsletter in mind as spring melts into summer: I’ll be looking for submissions again in June!
