To ensure that the Accelerator Section's membership is broadly represented in this process, we are encouraging you to make additional nominations. If you wish to nominate someone for one of the offices mentioned above, please first contact the prospective nominee to ensure that they are currently a member of the Section and are willing to serve in that position. The only requirement for running and holding office is that the nominee must be a current member of the Accelerator Section.
The Nominating Committee is in place simply to select at least one nominee who has agreed to run for each of the elective offices and at least one nominee who has agreed to run for each of the two seats on the Executive Board. All nominations from the Accelerator Section will be put forward for voting. The Nominating Committee also makes sure that the entire nomination and voting process goes smoothly.
The Accelerator Section by-laws allow the members to vote by e-mail, facsimile, or proxy, as well as by casting a personal vote at the annual meeting. The method of voting must simply allow for the vote to be authenticated. Again, the only requirement for voting is that the voter must be a current member of the Accelerator Section. We will send out directions for voting when that time comes.
Please note that this call for nominations will be sent out again via the ACCSEC listserv to Accelerator Section members, including those in arrears (about 15 members), as well as by mail for those who do not have e-mail. Please remember that you have to be current in dues to vote in the election.
