Training Resources

Transportation Emergency Preparedness Program (TEPP)

The Transportation Emergency Preparedness Program (TEPP) is a Department of Energy (DOE) program that integrates transportation emergency preparedness activities under a single program to address the emergency response concerns of state, tribal, and local officials affected by DOE's shipment of radioactive materials.

The TEPP Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training (MERRTT) provides another excellent first-responder training resource. This program provides modular, multimedia-rich presentation materials, instructor guides, student workbooks, and tests.

These materials are available to anyone who takes a no-cost, two-day "Train the Trainer" class. Classes are periodically offered throughout the nation. To request a class in your area, contact your local TEPP representative, who can be found on the TEPP Fact Sheet.

FEMA Training: Response to Weapons of Mass Destruction

Computer-based training (CBT) for the response to weapons of mass destruction has been distributed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) representative of each state. These CBTs are multimedia-rich training tools that can be easily incorporated into the training program of a hospital, fire department, or law enforcement agency.

If you would like the full eight-CD set, contact your state representative and make copies of the CDs for your own training program.

DOE Emergency Operations Training Academy (EOTA)

EOTA educates and provides hands-on training for emergency operations professionals. Some of the functional areas are Readiness Assurance, Emergency Public Information, and Consequence Assessment. The EOTA Catalog lists current training courses.

Web-based training (WBT) is available from the EOTA Web site. You can sign in by clicking here.

FEMA Emergency Management Institute

The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) also has variety of training materials, including training delivered at EMI or at each state. EMI also offers downloadable, Web-based, and computer-based training which is available from the Independent Study Course List.
