OSU Radiation Safety Office - Corvallis, OR

Graduate Assistant  (September 2006 – June 2008 )

·      Performed annual and special inspections of laboratories and facilities using radioactive isotopes, processed and analyzed samples obtained during inspections, and composed reports and assisted in remediation of violations.  

·      Carried out special projects including decommissioning of lab spaces, decontamination of equipment and facilities, and sampling and disposal of liquid, aqueous, and mixed waste.   

Oregon Health and Science University Medical Physics Department - Portland, OR

Physics Assistant  (Summer, 2007)

·      Assisted in taking measurements for the commissioning of two Varian Trilogy accelerators including setup of water tanks and detectors, comparison of data to standard, and organization and formatting results for commissioning report.   

·      Support activities including assembling brachytherapy applicators, reading thermoluminescent detectors, observing surgeries, and preparing and processing films.

Exelon Nuclear - Warrenville, IL

Nuclear  Fuels Intern (Summer 2005)

·      Obtained and consolidated information for evaluation of Zinc Injection and Hydrogen Water Chemistry management programs from over a decade of data on reactor water chemistry, fuel inspection analysis, and fuel failure root cause reports in twelve nuclear generating plants.

·      Created Lost Parts Analysis Reference Sheet and initiated qualification process for reference document.

·      Authored business case for participation in Westinghouse Secondary Fuel Degradation research program.

·      Adapted Fuel Core Component Fabrication Tracking System (FCCFTS) from an Excel based format to a more accessible Action Tracking Program based system, bringing it in line with company standard practices.

·      Obtained Nuclear General Employee Training and Radiation Worker Training qualifications and level-three security access at three commercial nuclear power plants.

OSU Industrial Assessment Center - Corvallis, OR

Energy Analyst  (December 2003 – January 2005)

·      Performed energy audits of local manufacturing plants.  This included data collection on boiler, heating, lighting and ventilation systems.   Interviewed maintenance personnel and equipment operators to understand operating conditions.

·      Analyzed field data, composing reports describing existing plant operation and detailing recommendations for enhanced efficiency.  This included calculations of energy savings, discussion of key assumptions, and resources for implementation.

·      Provided expertise in the areas of combustion, steam, and heat transfer. Used software tools such as Excel, SteamMaster, and MotorMaster to perform efficiency analysis.

OSU Women’s Rugby Club- Two years participation on Division I collegiate team.  Learned and demonstrated teambuilding, communication, and discipline necessary for successful and safe participation.  

OSU Cycling Team & Ironclad Cycling – Active in training, racing, and team development.  B Team Captain.

Climbing and Mountaineering- Successfully completed courses on lead and multi pitch climbing, self rescue, and basic

mountaineering.  Summits include Mt. Adams, WA and Mt. Hood, OR
